ABSTRACT:

The velocity and amount of flowing around the vertical wall with slit were simulated by the Reynolds averaged Navier-Stokes equation with the standard $k-\varepsilon$ turbulence model. The simulated spatial velocity patterns were compared with experimental results obtained by Particle Image Velocimetry (PIV) method. The numerical results for short wave periods gave good agreement with the experimental results both phase averaged velocity and turbulence kinetic energy around the slit. However, the difference between the numerical and experimental results became significant if incident wave period becomes longer.
